The Life Of The Natives.
Hi, My name is Nayeli Hariri. I live in Quebec. I am 13 and the year 1604. I was born in the year 1592, obviously. I have two brothers and one sister. I live with all of my siblings, my parents and when my uncle isn’t working he comes and sleeps in our house. He doesn’t have a wife, yet.
When my father goes hunting, he brings my brother, Atohi. His name means woods. They are very clever hunters. My father doesn’t bring my other brother because he is noisy and he talks back a lot. His name is Ata’halne and it means he interrupts. I guess his name goes good with his personaility. While my brother and father are hunting, us girls and Ata’halne, clean up around the house. Of course we have to farm and gather eggs from the hens and milk from the cows. Ata’halne does most of that work. My sister, Abequa (meaning she stays at home), me and my mother wash everybodies clothing, cooks food and storage food. I enjoy helping them.
The tribe that I am in is called the Iroquois. We speak English, Frech and Cherokee. We travel a little bit, when there is no more meat. I hate moving on. I usually speak English when I am out with my friends, but when I am at home, Mother usually wants me to speak my tribe lanuage. Sometimes I let an English word out. Boy, does Mother ever get mad. I do not see why though.
Well, Mother is calling me to help cook some supper for tonight. Good Night.
Yours truly, Nayeli.
